Mr Elephant had something to say.

But the person to tell never passed his way.

So…

Mr Elephant told Sand Cat

And Sand Cat told Desert Rat.

Desert Rat told Snow Leopard

And Snow Leopard told the Zebra herd.

The Zebra herd told Hunting Dog

And Hunting Dog told Red River Hog.

Finally the message reached the person meant to hear.

Mrs Elephant had it whispered in her ear.

This is what she heard:

The zoo-keeper of the zebra herd,

Left the gates open wide.

We can go and escape tonight,

Find the African plains and leave city behind.
